Results Announcement: New Moon Wishes from 2 Years Ago

I thought I’d share my new moon wishes from two years ago. It’s super embarrassing. But compared to my wishes on the new moon of August 13, 2026, I can see that the world right when I started gratitude practice and the world two years later have changed dramatically.

1 My son’s job search is a massive success! Celebrating with the family!

2 10 million yen is deposited into my bank account. I feel relieved. I invite my friends on a trip to Korea. Toasting in business class!

3 Becoming an exclusive model for beautiful kimono. Giving my mother a magazine that features me as a present.

4 I have found the perfect partner. Peace of mind, happiness, and the joy of being a woman. Holding hands, hugging, going to see flowers, doing everything we like and want to try together. Both he and I are all smiles.

5 I became a celebrity. Peace of mind. I can do everything I want to do. Buying my family anything they want. An easy-to-live-in house for my parents. A house with a soundproof room for my son. Going brand-name shopping with my daughter. So much fun!

6 Living happily every day with a smile. Telling everyone,”I’m happy.”

7 Mastering English that works worldwide. Being able to go anywhere in the world.

8 Non-Japanese friends teach me English. Speaking English is so much fun.

9 Encountering an instrument I can enjoy for a lifetime. Feeling healed while practicing every day.

10 Cooking became fun and I got better at it. Happy eating delicious and stylish meals every day.

Back then, I had anxiety about money and had messed up my relationship with my son all by myself. On top of that, I thought happiness and fun in life were somewhere out there, and that a lot of money, nice things, or wonderful people could fulfill my life. I approached gratitude work almost like a magic spell, searching for the “Bluebird of Happiness” outside of myself. Still, I can’t completely deny my immaturity back then. Immature as I was, I was very genuine. I shamelessly tackled it just as I was told:”Doing gratitude work makes you happy”or “Writing down new moon wishes makes them come true.” I was totally serious, lol. So, here is the results announcement for these wishes!

1 My son got into the field and company he wanted. But of course, this result didn’t come true just because I wished for it on the new moon. It’s entirely something my son accomplished on his own. This is a “bad example” of a new moon wish. You shouldn’t make wishes for other people on your own. And when you catch yourself wanting to fulfill someone else’s wish, I want you to ask yourself: what do I actually want? What I really wanted was to feel relieved by seeing my son’s wish come true.

2,3,4,5 didn’t come true. These also feel somewhat like my wishes, yet not truly my wishes. I was seeking peace of mind from the outside to fill my anxiety. Ah, I see. Back then, I had anxiety, huh, lol. Now? Almost none! Because I don’t feel anxious anymore. Seriously, I wonder when was the last time I felt anxious? That’s why when I look at these “desire-based” wishes, I feel a sense of discomfort. Yeah, two years ago, a friend who taught me about gratitude work became my mentor, telling me,”If you do as I say, your anxiety will disappear.” And it was true. After working on it as she suggested, my anxiety has completely vanished in two years. Now, I live in a completely different world than back then.

6 makes me laugh a little, lol. What even is “telling everyone ‘I’m happy'”?lol Did I want to reassure myself? Did I think people saw me as unhappy or pitiable? Ah, did I think I was unhappy? I’ve completely forgotten by now, lol. So yeah, that’s that, lol.

7, 8,9 – guess what! They came true spot-on! I’m learning English from a nearly native teacher, and right now, playing the guitar is so much fun that I practice every day. I’m completely hooked.

As for 10, I haven’t grown to love cooking, but I think I’ve built the habit of being grateful and enjoying meals tastefully. Just that alone makes mealtime plenty happy enough.

Announcing the results was actually quite fun. I thought exposing my immature past self would just be embarrassing, but nope, these were my genuine, pure wishes at that time. Isn’t that nice in its own way? Expressing them honesty without shame. Because I went through that period, I am who I am today. If I had lied to myself back then, I probably would have taken a much longer detour. And even though my way of wishing was super clumsy, I’m lucky that some of them actually came true. I’m grateful. I’ll keep swinging the bat without holding back!
