On the shape of My Love
I wonder what it feels like to want be by the side of someone I love. I love my son and daughter deeply, but I don’t feel a desire for them to stay beside me. From the bottom of my heart, I just want them to live freely and do what they love. What does it really mean to want someone by my side?
When it comes to other people, it feels somehow difficult. It’s like a picked wildflower. Because It’s beautiful, I pick it and keep it by my side, but it feels like it’s no longer the same figure that moved me with its beauty in that moment.
I want that person to live in the place where they can live most freely. I just can’t picture that place being by my side. Nor can I image myself being more lively when I am by someone else’s side. I’m living alone right now, and to be honest, I think I’m living more vibrantly than ever before (lol).
I will put my own shape of love into practice. A form of love that simply feels moved by the beauty of seeing that person shine freely.
My love has been separated from things like possessiveness, possessive desire, sexual desire, financial desire, and the desire for recognition. It’s not that I don’t have these desires. I certainly do. I see. Perhaps fulfilling them was easier when they were unified with love – and centered on one specific person. It’s convenient. “Because I love you.””If you love me” – and on top of that, it looks beautiful at a glance. Coated in love, it’s convenient. But whenever something happens, the seams start to show. It’s something else wearing the mask of love. Should you tear off the mask and face each other, or press the mask tight and convince yourself it’s love? Both the heart and relationships become increasingly complex.
No, no – “Love” shouldn’t be used as a reason, should it? “Because I love you” or “If you love me” feels a bit fishy, like a mask. “Love” is simply a state of heart where I find myself drawn to someone. It’s not something to be traded for something else. And as long as I understand it myself, there’s no need to prove it to anyone.
I have separated them. Once separated, raw desires come straight back at me. I have no choice but to deal with them myself. I cannot put the mask of love over these desires.
My shape of love allows for sharing the same enjoyment for a limited amount of time. Even with my children, my parents, or my friends, I can’t share everything even if I love them, but when our schedules align, we can share that moment of common joy for a limited time. Yes, my shape of love – for now – is respecting each other’s happiness and sharing common joy.
Regarding love, now that it’s separated from desire, things feel very clear and refreshing. But I still don’t know how I will face those separated desires. When faced with such situations in the future, I plan to carefully observe how my heart and body want to move, and write it down.
