The Place I’m Most Hooked On Right Now
Yesterday, I realized that what I had done was a mistake. I felt super awkward and really down. I was still feeling down this morning, and on top of that, there were a few things on my mind.
For the time being, I canceled my kimono dressing lesson in Nagoya for the morning and spend the time doing gratitude work, cleaning, and looking into the things that were bothering me. But I still couldn’t cheer up.
I was worried I might get hurt if I went to Aikido practice lacking focus like this, but I decided to go anyway. I brought my guitar, too. When I arrived, only my master was there, and he said, “Let’s jam on our guitars until everyone else gets here.” Ah, it was so much fun! My spirits lifted in an instant.
About ten minutes later, people started arriving, so we wrapped up the guitar session and switched to Aikido. Today was a trial session. A lovely lady appeared for the trial – maybe in her 60’s? – coming by herself. What a wonderfully curious person! Since there were two women today, we paired up to practice. We worked up a sweat. It was so much fun! Using my whole body, my mind, and my eyes. It’s fascinating. Tipping your opponent over using body mechanics – so interesting. We finished with a large spinning kick. That was simply refreshing. I had a great time.
After practice ended, I had a bit of extra time, so I played the guitar again. A second – grade boy played a rhythm for us on the talking drum. So adorable! My master is insanely good at guitar. Ah, what a deeply happy time it was.
Thinking back, I used to do things like this 30 years ago at the Shoe Club in Ikeshita. I formed a band and played live shows. That was also such a fun time. Back then, we had twin pianos and twin vocals. The band name was “Dalmatian だるめ Blue” Ah, memories.
I feel completely refreshed now. It’s all about love. In the morning, I wanted to make excuses for my mistakes somehow. I even thought about what to say and imagined different scenarios, even though I knew what was done was done. That’s why I was feeling down. But in the end, it was just as expected. It’s written in “The Green Dragon of the Universe” and “The Magic”. “Love is living life by being genuinely attracted to what you find appealing,” and “To be happy, be grateful for what you have and live in the present moment.”
That’s right. What’s done is done, and there’s no point dwelling on it. I’ll let it go into the past.
Today, I truly enjoyed Aikido and the guitar session from the bottom of my heart. I feel happy. And my mood has cleared up wonderfully.
There is always tomorrow. I realized I haven’t expressed my gratitude to the dojo yet. Tomorrow, when I enter and leave the dojo, I’ll make sure to express my gratitude whole – heartedly. It’s a place that genuinely attracts me.
Living like this – letting go of the haze and living by being genuinely drawn to what I love…It’s so simple, isn’t it? It’s pure happiness. I’m grateful for today, which turned out to be a happy day after all. Tomorrow will surely be happy, too. Thank you to tomorrow, a day I’m so looking forward to!
