Complementary Colors
“Color wheel”. I leaned about it in art class when I was in middle school. I memorized it back then just for the tests, but thinking about it now, I realized “complementary colors” are written as “colors that complement each other”. Even though they sit at complete opposite ends.
Today is going to be another fun day. That’s because today is Aikido + Band day! Moving my body as hard as I can in Aikido and getting drenched in sweat feels so good. Aikido really engages my eyes, mind, and body, so it takes intense focus. Then during band practice afterward, I play the guitar. I use all the way my fingertips. I use my eyes and ears, too. Aikido is about mind, but music is about feeling. Both are space where I use every single part of myself. That’s why it feels so amazing! Lively, free, and liberating.
Both Aikido practice and music involve having a partner and breathing in sync with them. At the same time, I also love spending time at home alone, completely free to do whatever I want. Time spent living just for myself is such an incredible luxury. On top of that, Sundays and Mondays teach me the joy of connecting with others. They let me experience it firsthand. it’s precisely because they are totally opposite that these two types of happiness stand out so clearly.
I am truly, deeply satisfied with my life right now. I’m happy. Thank you! Grateful for everything.
